Greeting to FMLN

The following is a message from the Communist Party of Australia to the FMLN on their victory in El Salvador’s presidential elections.

Comrade,

Please receive a fraternal and revolutionary greeting on behalf of the Communist Party of Australia for the historical electoral victory in the March 15 elections.

Our party observed with attention the results of the election that are clearly the outcome of the work and dedication of all the militants, members and supporters of the FMLN.

These results are the legacy left by Farabundo Marti and more than 30 years of political and armed struggle under the experienced direction of their political leadership.

We express our revolutionary respect to the President of the Republic, comrade Mauricio Funes and comrade Vice-president, Salvador Sanchez, for their tenacious work and the insight with which they interpreted the feelings of the Salvadoran people.

This triumph joins the struggle of the Central American and Latin American countries for their unity and independence. Only the unity of the peoples can lead to total liberation.

The fight of the Salvadoran people is an example to be followed and shows that only a government of a new type, popular and revolutionary can put into practice the peace accords to advance the consolidation of a popular democracy with social justice.

We extend this greeting to all the Salvadoran people knowing that the victory of the FMLN will be defended at all costs for the consolidation of popular power.
