Sydney May Day 2017

March for Equality and Your Rights @ Work

The annual May Day March will be happening on Sunday May 7, with speeches kicking off at Hyde Park North from 12pm. We will then march down to Prince Alfred Park for food, live music and entertainment. With activities planned for all ages this is a family fun day that’s not to be missed.

This year the theme for May Day is fighting inequality, with a focus on workers’ rights. Under conservative governments we’ve seen the gap between the rich and the poor widen, cuts to penalty rates with 700,000 workers’ losing up to $6,000 a year, the loss of decent secure employment, the soaring costs of living and the introduction of the ABCC.

With so much at stake for the working class, May Day is our opportunity to come together and fight back for a better future.

Lets make this year’s May Day the biggest we’ve ever seen to show conservative Governments that the workers’ united will never be defeated.
