A call for solidarity with the Bolivarian revolution

The Communist Party of Australia expresses its staunchest solidarity with the Bolivarian Revolution, the government of President Nicolas Maduro and the Venezuelan people.

The Bolivarian revolution has been enduring intensified right-wing attacks for a number of months now. The right-wing opposition has resorted to organised violence which has cost the lives of members of the community and the police force. The strategy used by the extremist wealthy opposition has been to incite violence. It has armed small groups to terrorise Chavista supporters and creating the impression of a failed state. Images of violent events are then reproduced by the mass media and broadcast all over the world as part of the counterrevolutionary media campaign.

We condemn the attacks on members of progressive parties, activists and supporters and diplomatic missions of the Bolivarian revolution abroad.

The threats of a US invasion of the country continue alongside the millions of dollars in support of the internal wealthy opposition.

The hoarding of food and other essentials is a violation of the basic human rights of the Venezuelan people with the aim of discrediting the government of President Maduro.

The CPA joins the international community in expressing its solidarity with the Venezuelan people and supports the calls from the Bolivarian government for a dialogue for national reconciliation.

We call on all CPA members and supporters to join emergency rallies in solidarity with the Bolivarian Revolution and for the future of the progressive and revolutionary movement founded by Hugo Chávez.

Together with the international community we say the counterrevolution shall not pass!
