The Guardian 28 January, 2009

Thank you

Dear comrades and friends,

I’ve been meaning to reply to all the letters and postcards sent to me when Peter died but it is still difficult for me. I’d like to thank everybody for their support and help which was absolutely vital for me in this time of personal grief. I know that for many people the loss is as acute as it is for me. Sunday’s commemorative meeting helped us all, I think, to start coming to terms with our loss. Peter used to say that funerals and commemorative meetings are for the living not for the dead. It was wonderful to see so many people there on Sunday — some of whom I haven’t seen for years — to come and pay tribute to Peter. Thank you all very much once again.

Special thanks to those who worked behind the scenes to make it all possible.

Natasha Symon
