Issue #1916      May 25, 2020

This Week ...

Hello comrades! Welcome to another week of Australian socialist theory and history. This week we continue our month on social democracy (represented by the ALP in Australia) with an article that showcases the limitations of this ideology.

In the history section we are starting a month-long look into the conviction for sedition of former party leader L L Sharkey. Each week will give background information on the case leading up to the day he was convicted of the ridiculous charge. This was a milestone moment for the CPA, it highlighted a fascist tendency within Australia’s government to silence those who spoke out against it. In the age of whistle-blowers and political dissidents, this is a lesson we should all revisit as a cautionary tale.
