Issue #1930      August 31, 2020

This week ...

Hello Comrades! Welcome to another week of Australian Communist Thought and History.

This week marks our last on Peace. This last article provides a look at how two different economic systems – capitalism and socialism – engender two different directions for government spending: one predicated on war, the other for peace.

The article in our history section reveals Menzies’ plans for privatising our economy if he were to win the election in 1946. What is significant about this article is that the election it discusses was the first to be contested by the Liberal Party. It is clear that from the beginning such a party had no intention of being for the people or “the quiet Australians.”

Next article – Two roads before us, war or peace
