CPA Statement

Free Palestine, end the occupation

  • The Guardian
  • Issue #2040

The Communist Party of Australia calls for the end to the ongoing Israeli occupation of all Palestinian lands, the establishment of an Independent Palestinian State based on the borders of 4th June 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital. We call for the right for Palestinian refugees to return to their homeland in accordance with the UN Resolution 194, access to water and the full realisation of a sovereign state.

The CPA expresses its solidarity and support with all the Palestinian political prisoners and calls for their immediate release.

We condemn the Israeli government’s policies of occupation, settlements and the fracturing of the geographical continuity of lands that would make up the future Palestinian state.

We demand the immediate dismantling of all Israeli illegal settlements and the Apartheid Wall in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.

We denounce the long-term US Administration’s support to the Israeli war and occupation policies as well as the US-fostered diplomatic relations of some Arab states with Israel. These are not peace agreements, but a validation of Israel and the US’s policies of more resource exploitation and military and economic hegemony in the region.

The CPA calls on Australia to immediately join the nine countries of the G20 (Argentina, Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and Turkey) that have recognised Palestine as a state.

The Communist Party of Australia will continue to campaign alongside the Palestinian community and organisations in solidarity for the end of the occupation and the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state.
