Premier of an Australian State:
Victoria – in the land of mates.
Dictator Dan, he held sway!
Nine years on Spring St – he had his way!
Either side of the culture war
Are printing t-shirts for novelty stores.
whether to make Victoria great
or get on the beers;
Whether to erect the gallows
or put up mighty cheers.
Who fell where, and to what injury?
Who cut down the sacred tree?
Who raised the train tracks?
Who knocked down public housing?
Who had in a bag before the live crossing?
In all of the juicy affairs one may find
A suburb of castles erected in the mind.
When confronted with this truth we shall not shy away,
Under examination in the stark light of day,
The pithy phrase, put as plain as can be:
