Terrorist attack on Cuban embassy: statement in solidarity

  • The Guardian
  • Issue #2073

The Communist Party of Australia condemns in the strongest possible terms the latest terrorist attack on the Cuban Embassy in Washington DC.

The attack on the night of 24th September 2023 cannot be left to pass with impunity. The US government has the responsibility to provide security to all diplomatic representations in the United States under the Vienna Convention, the Cuban diplomatic representation is not an exception.

While there were no injuries to the diplomatic personnel, there was damage to the property and it is the second attack on the Cuban Embassy which is located only a few kilometres from the heart of the US government.

The perpetrators of the earlier 2020 riffle attacks on the diplomatic mission have never been located and brought to account. This is unacceptable for any diplomatic missions in any country.

The Communist Party of Australia stands in solidarity with Cuba and its government in this difficult time. We note that this new act of terrorism happened at the same time President Miguel Diaz-Canel participated at the UN General Assembly and other solidarity events organised by grass roots organisations that stand against the US blockade on Cuba and its inclusion in the US unilateral list of countries sponsors of terrorism.

Let Cuba Live!

Down with the US blockade on Cuba!

Cuba off the list!
