CPA-organised picket outside Tanya Plibersek’s office in Redfern, Sydney, 18 January. Speak up Tanya for Gaza!
Tanya Plibersek Environment Minister in the Albanese ALP government has her office close to the Communist Party office in Sydney. Plibersek’s electorate have been waiting for her to speak up for the people of Gaza but have been very disappointed by her silence, as with the silence of all bar two MPs in the Albanese government. The CPA City of Sydney Branch acted and organised a picket outside her office on Thursday 18 January. Hundreds of cars passed our picket, and the response was very positive. Branch members also collected signatures on a letter to Plibersek, calling on her to join the chorus condemning Israel and to join South Africa in its quest to see Israel convicted of genocide.
This is a good start to our campaign for the Albanese government to speak up for peace in Gaza. Until Israel starts to retreat from Gaza, we want the Australian government to expel Israeli diplomats.
