The Australia-Cuba Friendship Society, WA branch rallied outside the US consulate on Monday 17 June 2024. It has been demanding the end of the criminal US blockade on a monthly basis for a number of years now.

The focus of this demonstration was to call for the immediate removal of Cuba from the US list of countries that allegedly sponsor terrorism.

Cuba was unjustly added to the list by president Trump in the last days of his administration.

President Biden made promises to remove Cuba from that spurious list during his 2020 electoral campaign. He has never fulfilled that promise. He can easily make that promise a reality in an executive order. He can rectify the injustice committed against  Cuban families by removing Cuba from the list as soon as possible.

The blockade continues to be the main obstacle that affects every single family in Cuba and prevents Cuba’s development. The inclusion of Cuba in the US list of countries which are ‘sponsors of terrorism’ makes the lives of every single Cuban citizen almost unbearable.

Countries that have been included on that list suffer huge financial loses, their citizens are penalised, and it makes it almost impossible to trade, impossible to buy or sell anything in the international market.

We demand the Biden Administration stop penalising Cuban families and to use their power to remove Cuba off the list immediately. Let Cuba live! Cuba off the list! Lift the blockade on Cuba!
