Albanese, apartheid and genocide
Dear Guardian Reader,
The Albanese government stands condemned for its support of those who commit genocide. Albanese wheels out his support for a Two State Solution, a position hard-won from those who support only Israel. What he fails to do though is to ask the Israelis to accept a Palestinian State.
It is not the Palestinians who have refused to accept a Palestinian state alongside Israel. It is the extremists in Israel who, having assassinated the Israeli president who agreed to the Oslo accord, have subsequently done everything to prevent these accords from being fully implemented.
One can only guess what murky role Mossad has played, but in the lead up to the assassination of Yasser Arafat, they even founded a conspiratorial 911-denying website called ‘emperor’s new clothes.’ The Israelis have carried out targeted assassinations bombardments and attacks against their neighbours and sometimes even on the soil of, and with the stolen identities of their friends.
The disgraceful treatment of Senator Payman is but one chapter in the game of reverse blame. All she did was seek the full implementation of the Oslo accords and to have a Palestinian state recognised by our government. It is a downright falsification of history to counterpose this and somehow try to reverse the onus.
Israel has since the assassination of their last progressive president moved deeper into apartheid, denying the rights of Palestinians who are Israeli citizens, attacking Jewish people who support peace, encouraging “settler” violence by armed racist thugs.
If Albanese wants to join the right side of history and stop being complicit in genocide, he should call in the Israeli ambassador and stop any arms trade that can be used in this unjust war.
This is not the first act of genocide, but it is the first that has been called out by significant sections of world humanity.
The existence of Israel as an apartheid state must end if peace is to be restored. The conflict in Syria had its genesis when the Syrian armed forces successfully intervened to end the criminal siege of Beirut. This lead to the defeat of the fascist South Lebanese army, a puppet army of the imperialists.
The illegal occupation of Arab lands has to stop, Israel must not have carte blanche to attack its neighbours with impunity.
No matter who is president, the US government cannot be anything but an aider and abetter to this tragedy until they stop funding Israel and other terrorist states. The Australian government is up to its ears in the war games and we will be like the US people, already driven away from meeting our real needs while our governments fund and create these wars.
