Dear comrades,
The Communist Party of Australia conveys its warmest congratulations to comrade Anura Dissanayake Leader of the JVP and National People’s Power, NPP for his expected win in the presidential election held in Sri Lanka on Saturday 21st September 2024. The people of Sri Lanka have spoken and endorsed the policies put forward by the NPP.
The win of a left coalition in Sri Lanka brings challenges but also the opportunity to build a better future led by a government of a new type in the best interest of the Sri Lankan people.
We are confident that President Dissanayake is ready to take on the challenges and deliver his best to fulfil the aspirations of the electorate who are tired of the status quo and who will support the NPP policies for change.
In working class solidarity,
