On July 23, 1921, in a building in the French Concession of Shanghai, around a small table at which only 13 people were present, the Chinese Communist Party (CPC) held its First Congress. 104 years later, the Party has grown to be 100 million strong, a firmly united Communist Party under the leadership of General Secretary Xi Jinping, and a force for world peace.
Today, the world is on the brink. We may be closer to nuclear war than ever before. Many on the left, don’t truly grasp the dialectical relationship between socialism and peace. Socialism, communism, Marxism-Leninism, and Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in the New Era: these are forces for peace. The proletarian dictatorship is the bastion of world peace. It refuses imperialism in all its forms. It refuses to meddle in the affairs of other countries. Its goal is to end poverty, first at home then everywhere that poverty exists. We have seen that countries that can satisfy their own people, countries led by people-first governments, are precisely the countries that do not need to make wars abroad.
That does not mean communism doesn’t fight against fascism and imperialism. It resolutely defends the right of national sovereignty, and refuses the logic of expansionism. Communism defeated fascism in its initial phase in Europe. Without Stalin and the heroic efforts of the Soviet Union during the Great Patriotic War, Hitler may have prevailed. Without communism the world comes ever closer to fascism. As Trump’s USA has made clear: anti-communism expresses itself in fascism.
Make no mistake, China’s sovereignty is not up for debate. Anyone that wishes to undermine the hard-won sovereignty of socialist China will be met with a Great Wall of steel built by 1.4 billion people.
Communism is forever the guardian of world peace. China and the CPC have shown this. China’s policy of non-interference would not exist without grounding in Chinese Marxist philosophy. Its interests are now on the project of completing modernisation and building an Ecological Civilisation. Let us not forget that the phrase Ecological Civilisation was inherited from the former Soviet Union. What ended in the USSR, China has been able to continue.
China is a force for peace because of the CPC. If those 13 Communists had not gathered around that table way back in 1921, and if Deng Xiaoping had not retained the commanding heights of the proletarian dictatorship through the CPC, the world would be much more worse off than it is now. China’s adherence to UN safeguards, to the Bandung Conference spirit, to a Shared Future for All Mankind, to Xi Jinping Thought, and to the philosophical principles of Ecological Civilisation, mark it as the bright, shining star of our world, a beacon of hope for the future.
May the CPC shine eternally in the firmament, and may its contribution to humanity be known by proletarians across the world.
Peace on earth and goodwill to all humankind!
Long live the CPC at 104!
