Resistance to Trump

You can’t get red wool in Minnesota at the moment – it’s all sold out. Why? Because people are busy knitting red hats, similar to those worn as a symbol of resistance in Nazi-occupied Norway during the war. Now it has become a visible symbol of resistance to Trump’s brutal immigration policy which is being played out in the streets. Ordinary people want ICE thugs off their streets and out of their towns.

Minnesota has become a focal point of resistance but there is a wave of support for them. Bruce Springsteen was one of many who expressed his feelings by writing a song “Streets of Minneapolis,” days after the killing of Alex Pretti. He dedicated the song to Renee Good – another victim of ICE. the song has become a protest anthem and is being performed around the world. It is in the best traditions of protest songs and you can hear it on YouTube – and see the massive protests in the background.
