Your Excellency,

Re: The Presence of a Canadian Ship in the Talisman Sabre Military Exercise

We wish you to convey to your government that we are most unhappy with the presence of the Canadian Navy Warship at the huge Australian-US military exercise called Talisman Sabre 21.  The exercises are deliberately aimed at provoking China and causing disquiet in the region.

Canada by sending a warship to TS21 is aiding and abetting the growth of tension and misunderstanding in the region.  Canada is complicit in making this region worse and more unstable rather than doing what a spokesperson has said is Canada’s ‘commitment to peace, security, sustainability, and prosperity at home and abroad’.  Canada by participating shows it is not committed to peace, is making us insecure, and its actions are not sustainable as they deprive Canada of much needed resources for social needs or the provision of aid to poorer countries.

We have been hearing of the scandalous number of graves of young indigenous Canadians being found next to former boarding schools.  Canadians have much to do in their own country without coming down here and making things worse.  Please ask your ship to set sail for Canada immediately.

Yours sincerely,
