Public sector nurses are fighting for a fair deal with decent wages and conditions and safer staffing levels.
Health and Community Services Union (HACSU) member nurses in Tasmania’s public sector commenced industrial action on 21 September.
HACSU had set a deadline of 14 September for the government to present an offer for nurses to consider, but an offer is yet to be tabled.
HACSU’s bargaining team have participated in 50 hours of negotiations thus far. Industrial action has kicked off with a round of workplace bans.
HACSU members will be wearing campaign materials at work, placing campaign materials on patient care boards, and speaking to the media and the general public about the campaign.
Members will also be working to rule by taking all breaks on time, and not participating in audit-related activities. Members will not be attending non-patient related meetings or taking late files to admissions.
Meanwhile, ANMF members at the Royal Hobart Hospital endorsed industrial action at a mass meeting on 22 September, with further mass meetings of ANMF members to take place in the north and north-west later this week.
