Description
This book is a must read for all trade unionists. First published in 1942, it gives an historical analysis of trade unionism and the Communist Party’s role. He sets out to show that without consistent application of Marxism-Leninism to its problems, without a revolutionary theory, the trade union movement is doomed to futility. At the time of writing Sharkey was editor of the Party’s newspaper, Workers Weekly, and chair of the Party.
The book analyses a number of the main experiences in the history of the Australian trade union movement and in doing so provides readers with material that might serve as a guide for today.
